What type of SD card should I purchase?
The best piece of advice we can offer anyone considering an SD card purchase is to read your product manual!
Some of the most common reasons for issues with SD cards are as follows:
- Speed incompatibility: Many devices will not support speeds as high as 150x.
- Size: Even some late model 5+ megapixel cameras support only 512Mb. Always check your user manual before ordering.
- SD vs. SDHC: The new SDHC card standard has confused many consumers as the SDHC card looks the same as a standard SD card. However, only the latest cameras, PDA's etc support this new standard. If you have an older camera, it will not work with SDHC cards.
- SD Card formats: There are 4 different formats used for SD digital cards. FAT, FAT 12, FAT 16 & FAT 32. Often cards need to be reformatted in order to work in different devices. This is best done through your device, however, if you encounter problems you can also format SD cards through MS Windows, Linux or Apple OS.
What is the difference between 60x speed and 150x speed SD Memory Cards?
The only difference between our standard 60x SD cards and the 150x is that they transfer information faster. Faster information transfer is particularly useful for professional photographers who wish to take a series of photos quickly, use minimal compression or need to transfer many large files off the card regularly. For most standard digital cameras, PDAs and mobile phones 60x SD Cards are satisfactory.
| Speed | Read | Write |
| 60X | 9MB/Sec | 7MB/Sec |
| 150X | 22.5MB/sec | 15MB/Sec |
